(For King Vibal, because he brought back to the USA, his
new country, the Dangadang he boughtin his old country.)
It is as simple as this,
This exultant exchange
Of quick good words tonite.
There is ritual here, its rhyme
And reason ancient and familiar.
I tell you so: courage grows in me,
My heart grows stout with a singular joy,
Blessed as ever by the pale late lights
On Chateau. The ceremony seals all,
This redeeming rite of minds meeting.
The news of you buying Dangadang
Is a salve unexpected, soothing
As ever. You offered
To read Dangadang some time.
But King, I can only offer you
A writer's small act of imitating life,
Narrating it too even as the small suns
In the heart dip into the crooked
Streets of our particular lives.
